An experience that cannot be described! Visnjan Observatory allows you to bring the sky and stars closer to you.
As a member of the International Asteroid Warning Network (IAWN), Visnjan is amongst the top five observatories in the world in collecting more near-Earth object(NEO) measurements to determine if they are a threat to Earth.
The Višnjan Observatory can be visited throughout the year. Dates and times of our astrotourism programs during the 2023 summer season:
JULY 2023:Astro Night programs in English are held every Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Astro Night programs in the Croatian language are held every Thursday and Saturday from 9:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

The program consists of lectures on some of the topics from astronomy and the area of operation of the observatory, a tour of the observatory and the dome where the main telescope is operatzing for asteroid detection and tracing, and if the weather permits, visible celestial bodies can be observed with an amateur telescope on the meadow in front of the observatory. This part of the programme is followed by a laser guided tour through the constellations in the night sky.
The main telescope in the Observatory is used for research purposes only.
The entrance fee is 15,00 EUR per person, 8,00 EUR for children aged 8-14, and admission is free for children up to 8 years old. Payment can be made at the Observatory before the start of the program. Payment is possible with cash or card.
