Villa Melissa
Sveti Lovrec nestles in the immediate hinterland of Vrsar and Porec. It is one of the best preserved medieval fortified towns in Istria. The town was named after the small church St. Lawrence built in the 8th century.
Melissa is a perennial plant that has a scent that reminds of a lemon. It is often colloquially called a water lily. Lemon balm flowers are full of a nectar that attracts bees, which is where its name came from (in Greek “melissa” means honey bee). The lemon balm is widely used in medicine and in cooking (for instance in the production of some ice cream flavors).
